Living Room Theaters: Movie watch like you're at home!

Apr 28, 2010

With the price of movies today, you want to see it with the most perks possible. The Living Room Theaters will give the feeling that you watching the latest movie right in your own home. With comfortable seats, intimate theaters, and the best offerings in food and drink, watch the latest blockbuster in luxury.

The theater is located directly downtown across from the Ace Hotel. It is convenient for both city residents and Portland visitors. While many of the smaller local theaters play second-run movies, which have been out for weeks or even months, the Living Room Theaters play generally first-run movies. This means you can see everything that has just come out.

The ambience of the theater combines the natural, rustic elements of the original building with modern amenities you would expect from a top-notch theater.  Opened in late 2006, the theater strives to be a “sophisticated yet superbly comfortable environment that combines a European style café and lounge with a relaxing place to see wonderful movies.”

With Hollywood’s recent infatuation with 3D movies, the Living Room Theaters are a good place to catch them. A recent showing of Alice in Wonderland gave viewers an experience like no other. Instead of one-time use 3D glasses, the theater has invested in re-usable glasses which not only look better but have a more comfortable fit as well.

When you enter, the first thing you will notice is the dining and bar area. You can get to a movie early and not have to sit in an empty theater. Meeting friends and grabbing food or drink, makes a trip to your new favorite flick flat an all-night excursion.

On weekend evenings, local musicians add to the local flavor of the dining area, capturing an atmosphere far beyond anything you would experience in a chain movie theater. A key highlight of any visit is their staff. Playful and imaginative, the staff adds a whole new element of service, especially in the dining area.

A nice addition is that you can order drinks and food before entering the theater. Everything from beer, wine, and soft drinks will be delivered to your seat in the theater. The food menu is just as expansive including the traditional popcorn with more unusual choices such as dessert. The Living Room Theaters are a great place to have your cake and watch your movie too.

HelloPortland Tip: For dinner and movie, try the food in their dining area. Not only will get a wonderful meal, but you will be first in line for the best seat in the house for your movie.
