Clark Lewis: Explore Portland’s New American Masterpiece

Apr 3, 2010

Clark Lewis may seem hidden away in the industrial part of the Inner Eastside, but once you have been there it will be a location that is hard to forget. This upscale restaurant specializes in New American and Northwest-centric cuisine.

When arriving here for dinner, you must first traverse through the train tracks and large warehouses which make up the Inner Eastside area of Portland. Nestled next to the Willamette River, the area has been revitalized in large part because of Clark Lewis and other eateries. The charm and rustic appeal of the restaurant go hand-in-hand with the local surroundings.

Inside, the restaurant has a modern yet classic ambience. An impeccable wine and drink list perfectly complements any meal. With a particular focus on local wines, you can try an exquisite Pinot Noir from a nearby Willamette Valley vineyard.

Executive Chef Dolan Lane’s vision is visible on the menu. Whether you are in for lunch, happy hour, or dinner, you will find flavorful and inventive dishes. Clark Lewis’ food does a wonderful balancing act between modern cooking techniques and traditional flavors. Leaving experimental cooking to other restaurants, you will discover that Clark Lewis provides an amazing meal for both young adults to older patrons.

If you want to get a small taste of what Clark Lewis is all about, try their happy hour. From under $6, you can order a Croque Monsieur or a wood-fired grilled hamburger. With plenty on the menu to choose from, it might be a good choice if you are looking for an affordable way to try their lovely delectable dishes.

For dinner, try one of their seafood plates. Cooked to heavenly perfection, it makes outsiders understand why Pacific Northwest cuisine is so dependent on the local seafood. Whether it is a salmon, scallops, or sole dish, taste the flavors of the Pacific Northwest.

Whatever you choose, you will see why this is an award-winning restaurant fitting of its reputation as one of Portland’s Top Eateries. If only Merriwether Lewis and William Clark would have been lucky enough to have food like this waiting upon their arrival.

HelloPortland Tip: Looking for a classy lunch? Try the three-course Blue Plate Special, which goes far beyond your grandfather’s diner special.
