Mio Sushi: Portland’s Top Sushi Spot

Jun 20, 2010

Mio Sushi is an award-winning restaurant with fresh ingredients and an affordable menu. While once exotic, sushi has recently entered the mainstream of American cuisine. Especially in the Pacific Northwest, sushi restaurants abound and it is sometimes difficult to choose the best one out of the bunch. By serving quality food with low prices, Mio Sushi is quickly becoming known as Portland’s top sushi spot.

Mio Sushi has seven locations to choose from, including convenient ones in the Pearl, Hollywood, and Hawthorne districts. Mio Sushi is a perfect choice for visitors to the Pearl District. A quick lunch at Mio can be a perfect re-energizer for a day’s worth of exploring the Rose City.

Each location has its own style, but in general they are all spacious, clean and have a modern appeal to them. Their wait staff are very accommodating and will answer any questions you may have.

Ordering is done mainly through the sushi sheet. You check off the items you want, whether it is vegetarian rolls, sushi rolls, or nigiri. Mio Sushi also offers a full menu with entrees like Teriyaki, Udon soup, and Yakisoba noodles, in case you want something other than their sushi offerings.

If you are need of a fast lunch, Mio Sushi is a perfect choice. There is usually ample space for a regular size party and the service is very efficient. The restaurant does a nice job of balancing between getting your food quickly and not making you feel rushed.

When ordering, make sure you choose around two to three rolls per person. This is a good amount and if you order too little or are still hungry, you can always order more.

Their specialties include their fancy Spider Roll as well as the more basic Yellowtail Sushi roll. Another good choice is their fresh-water eel (Unagi). With an affordable menu, you can sample most of their expansive menu after only a few trips.

If you need a quick take-home meal or want to spice up an office luncheon, Mio also offers food to-go. It is a tasty option to liven up your day.

HelloPortland Tip: In the mood for dessert? Try their mochi ice cream, a delicious version of this famous Japanese dessert.
