Albina Press: A ‘Hip’ Coffehouse For All
Jun 27, 2010
Portland is known for its coffee and coffeehouses. With so many to choose from, the task can sometimes seem daunting. Albina Press is a great option if you are looking to find a coffeehouse which exudes a local flavor, hip appeal, and has all the amenities you need. It can satisfy many travelers' needs with its delicious coffee, free Wi-Fi, and yummy snacks.
With two convenient locations, it is a good place for visitors to have a peek inside everyday Portland. Albina Press’ two locations reflect its insistence on providing a local flavor to its coffee shops. Its original location in northeast Portland is on Albina Street. In southeast Portland, the second location is placed at the foot of Mount Tabor on Hawthorne Blvd. Both are wonderful locations to sit back, relax, and have nice cup of coffee.
As soon as you walk in, the staff will greet you with hearty 'hello' and you will hear music playing over the stereo. While the staff is generally young and “hip”, they are very friendly and especially willing to explain your coffee. They offer a variety of roasts and flavors, so it is sometimes nice to have an expert explain your drink in depth.
Serving the local roasting behemoth Stumptown, Albina Press gives you both the taste and feel of the Rose City. Stumptown’s coffee is a dream blend without the bitter aftertaste found in many other local coffee roasters. Their pastries are fresh and can always make a nice snack whether first thing in the morning or late in the afternoon.
For visitors to Portland, you can not only get your caffeine fix, but also check your email with their free Wi-Fi. It is also a perfect spot to find out about local art shows and music concerts. During weekdays, you will find a lot of people working diligently whether for their jobs or completing schoolwork. Like the coffeehouses of old, Albina Press does a great job of providing a local spark to Portland’s bustling coffee shops.
HelloPortland Tip: If you are at the Hawthorne location, head east for a wonderful walk on Mt. Tabor. This extinct volcano has many scenic trails.
