Stumptown Coffee: Local coffee roaster with global appeal

Portland is a city known for its coffee.  Its local coffeehouses serve both as a place to get a caffeine jolt in the morning as well as to observe local art and culture. Stumptown offers a view inside a truly PDX phenomenon. Their delightful blends have not only become popular around town, but are featured throughout the country.

With locations spread around the city, Stumptown is the quintessential Portland coffee roaster. The original location on Division Street opened in 1999 and was “the store that started a coffee revolution in Portland.” Stumptown now has five locations in Portland, two in Seattle, one in New York, and recently opened one in Amsterdam.

While they have recently gone international, their locations and coffee still exude a very local feel. Each location features art and they host monthly openings for each show. The art shows are professional curated and offer visitors a perspective into Portland’s vibrant art scene.

For those who like to drink something other than coffee, Stumptown has you covered. They offer delicious teas, chai, and hot chocolate. Their chai is made with Dragonfly Chai from Seattle. This blend adds a touch of spice to a tasty drink. Stumptown also has a wonderful assortment of pastries including local favorites. Check off a few “to-do” items from your travel checklist by starting the morning with a cup of Stumptown coffee and a Voodoo donut.

Looking to learn more about coffee? The Annex location offers free tastings daily at 12:00pm and 2:00pm. They also have a nice selection of coffee accessories like French press pots and Moka coffee makers. The staff will also help you pick out the right blend if you want take some home.

No trip to Portland is complete without a visit to one of the city’s Stumptown locations. From the art on the walls to the coffee in the cup, Stumptown embodies to spirit of Portland with its creativity and undeniable appeal.
