warm oil down my back
Reviewed by flowereater on 2010-08-11T13:21:31Z

I received a gift certificate and decided on the Shirodharath, which is advertised as "A stream of warm herb-infused oil gently poured onto the forehead at the location of the third eye." Sounds good, huh? I was envisioning the removal of my tight work clothes and lying down on a massage table so that my forehead pointed UP and something could be poured onto it, and somewhere in there I pictured a relaxing scalp massage along with it. Instead, I was told to sit in a chair up on a block and put my feet in hot water, which wasn't bad in itself, but NOT what I expected. After a few minutes I was startled by a trickling of oil coming down my neck as the technician (I was later told she was the owner) poured the oil onto my scalp while I was in an upright position. WTHeck?? All I could think about was the oil was going to get all over my clothes, which were becoming increasingly tighter the more anxious I became. This was several years ago, but I am only now writing about it. I have never been back. I found the treatment very poorly planned, completely un-relaxing and amateurish.

Don't stop at their location in the airport

I went to this place at the PDX airport. I was thrilled that I could get a pedicure while waiting for my flight. Pedicure price seemed high at $70. Not only was it pricey, it was the worst pedi I've ever had. No buffing, and they don't use nail polish but use a product that is more like putting stickers on your nails. I tried to be open-minded about this sticker thing. But it turned out awful. They couldn't even shape/trim these stickers. It seriously looked like I let my 2 year old niece do the pedi by putting her stickers on my toes after ripping the stickers up a bit. Waste of time and money. NOT a good experience.

Pros: no pros

Cons: expensive, worse manicure this side of the Mississippi river

Lovely Treatment
Reviewed by AishaK on 2010-05-17T22:16:02Z

I wanted to try this spa based on many of the reviews I read and I was very impressed with the spa. The lady making the appointent for me was very helpful and squeezed me in late on a sunday. I had the abayanga (sp?) treatment with a swedish massage. It was heavenly. Kelly was great and made the experience very comfortable. I would recommend this place to anyone ad I look forward to my next visit. Thank you!

Pros: Great treatments; very helpful personnell

Cons: Small waiting areas, changing rooms
