Fresh Pot: Coffee Served up by the Rose City’s Best Baristas

Fresh Pot is a local coffee shop which has the award-winning baristas and laid-back charm to win the hearts of many Portlanders. The city is known for its many local cafes and coffee roasters, with Fresh Pot serving as a great insider perspective on coffee culture in the Rose City.

Fresh Pot has two locations in Portland, one located in north Portland on Mississippi Street and the other on Hawthorne Street in southeast Portland. Both offer fresh coffee and tea as well as pastries or bagels from local bakeries. Their bagels from local baker Taste Bud are an incredible accompaniment to your morning coffee drink.

Their north Portland location is usually quite busy, but grabbing a coffee is a great start to exploring the neighborhood. The revered record shop, Mississippi Records, is located just north of the shop while many of the district's other amazing businesses are just down the street.

If it is a nice day out, sitting outside on their tables can be the perfect way to gain a perspective on this up-and-coming neighborhood. The numerous parks in the neighborhood can be a great way to get a little exercise with your morning coffee. Nearby Overlook Park offers picturesque views overlooking the Willamette River and northeast Portland.

Apart from serving great coffee, Fresh Pot has also been featured on the silver screen. A scene from the 2007 drama, Feast of Love, was filmed at the north Portland location. The café also has stars behind the counter, with their baristas winning awards at regional barista competitions.

True to the café culture, Fresh Pot does more than just serve delicious Stumptown coffee. They offer artwork by local artists on their walls and free Wi-Fi for customers. You can usually find a table at either location, but the café still has a bustling feel with people chatting, studying or on their computers.
