PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Officials in Portland, Maine, say city's airport had the busiest year in its history in 2018.
Facility officials say the Portland International Jetport for the first time saw more than 2 million passengers.
That's up from more than 1.8 million passengers in 2017.
That's a nearly 15 percent bump - compared with the four percent boost the airport saw in 2017.
Airport Director Paul Bradbury says Portland is a very popular destination and pointed to the addition of larger aircraft and new airline service at the airport. The airport is planning improvements to make room for more passengers.
The International Air Transport Association says passenger growth was 5.0 percent overall in North America.
