Description

Join us for a two day winter camping trip on the snowy slopes of Mt. Saint Helens. Snowshoe to camp at 4000’ for spectacular views without the bugs and crowds. We’ll also be teaching winter shelter building and the skills you need to stay comfortable and safe overnight in the backcountry. During downtime you’ll have the option of snowshoeing to gain elevation and a panorama of the mountain and its’ pristine surroundings.

We'll meet at our office, located at 906 Northwest Corporate Dr. Troutdale, OR 97060, at 7am on Saturday.  After a brief gear check we will load up and drive out to the trailhead at Mt Saint Helens.  Here we'll strap on our snowshoes and prepare to hike the snow covered trails to our secluded camping location.  The remainder of our time will be spent learning different techniques for making a comfortable winter camp, and snowshoeing to explore our environment.  Guides will also teach you tips for staying dry and warm, and other winter camping tricks. Plan to return to the office around 5pm on Sunday.  This trip includes: Transport to and from REA office, meals, group gear (tents, stoves), snowshoes, and trekking poles. Trip excludes: Winter weather clothing, Sleeping bag, Sleeping pad, Gratuities (at your discretion). A packing list will be provided upon booking. Participants should be in good physical condition and prepared to spend 2 full days in winter conditions.
